The bed for an invalid and/or for treatment, has a framework (1) on which is a wooden or wooden-clad aluminium recliner-frame (2) inside which are transverse strips (3,4,5) forming a recliner surface. The pref. coated transverse strips (3,4,5) are profiled, pref. extruded and are placed at an obtuse angle to the facing inner walls of the strips (2) of the recliner frame. The profiled strips are reinforced where the corsspieces (5) and the arms meet. The recliner-frame is sectional with bearing outer struts (2) middle part (11), backrest (12) head (14) head-rest and/or foot (13) adjustably connected so that they can be altered in angle. USE/ADVANTAGE - The bed is simple and economical to produce and has transverse strips which can be cut off to the right length to fit inside a frame.
