摘要 The crankcase housings walls (2) are in part double walled to give inner (4,5) and outer (6,7) walls and intervening gap area (11,12) with gap width about 2 cm. The housing itself should be cast by solid mould using the lost foam process and the walls of the housing (1,2) should be doubled in large surface areas. Viewed in the section of the crankcase, the gap spaces (11,12) on the two sides start from above as a slit (13,14) parallel to the centre longitudinal plane (15) of the crankcase only to open or bulge out in the lower part of the crankcase in an S-shaped outward bend before terminating near a bottom oil sump flange (18) in a bottom opening (19,20). The gap spaces are only open above and/or below giving small moulding sand holes (19,20), and are otherwise closed. Insulating material should be injected into one gap space at least and/or granular material is introduced into the particular gap and one of the two gap spaces serves as an oil accumulator which in turn is controlled by valves between the top cylinder head and the oil sump below.
