The invention relates to an electrical partition-wall box, such as a switch box, junction box or the like, which can be inserted from the front into the aperture in a wall. The partition-wall box has a supporting flange on one side and a plurality of, preferably two, holding elements on the other side, which, in their quiescent position, lie within the profile of the partition-wall box. These holding means can be moved into their effective position via actuating means, in which effective position they fix the partition-wall box in a secure position on the rear side of the wall. The holding elements are moved, without any adjusting screws, from their quiescent position into their effective position by actuating means which produce compression and/or tension and can be actuated manually or by means of a tool from the front of the partition-wall box. These holding elements are secured in their effective position by means of locking elements, against inadvertent rearward displacement. At the same time, these locking means lie on the one hand in the region of the circumferential surface of the partition-wall box and on the other hand on the holding element.
