The fuel injection device has a fuel pump (2) and a press regulator (3) supplying each of the fuel injection valves, the cutter latter controlled in dependance on the detected engine revs and load. The system press at the output of the pump (2) is varied in dependance on the engine load between a min value at idling revs and a max value when the engine is under full load. Pref. the detected engine revs and load are supplied to an electronic control unit (11), coupled on the output side to the fuel pump and the press regulator.
