PURPOSE:To accurately realize gradation and to record at a high speed by continuously supplying a pulse having a predetermined pulse width to a recording head corresponding to a gradation level 1 from a gradation level (n) when recording in density of the level (n) to drive the head. CONSTITUTION:If image data per pixel to be input to a gradation conversion decoder 440 is composed, for example, of 6 bits, 64 types of data per one pixel can be provided. Accordingly, N of N gradations become '64'. Gradation data 444 for first STB signal B64 of the data of one line is transferred to a shift register 234, and latched to a latch circuit 233 by a latch signal 235. A strobe signal B1 is output, data '1' is output in the pulse width of the B1 to drive a heat generator. When next gradation data 444 is input to the register 234 and a STB signal 445 falls, it is latched to the latch circuit 233 by the latch signal 235. The STB signal is output during B63. Such an operation is repeated 64 times (STB signals B64-B1) to finish recording of one line. |
