An electric lamp consists of a lamp bulb (1) pinched to a taper at one end, leads (3) leading back from the bulb, a metal fixing element (5) or socket, a plastics, potshaped seating tube and a baseplate of the tube having bores for the leads. At the rear end of this tube a connecting piece (12) of insulating material is fitted, having a wall zone through which the contacts (10) pass. A cavity (13) is thus formed between this insulating component and the baseplate of the tube. Inside this cavity the connections between the leads and the contacts are located, and the cavity may be fully injected and sealed with a plastics resin, esp. silicone resin.
