PURPOSE: To improve the wiping performance particularly in snowing by providing a wiper shaft with a means for permitting an obstruction evading movement by a drive rod, and continuing the rotation of a crank without interfered, when the movement of the windshield wiper device is interfered. CONSTITUTION: A drive mechanism comprises a means 7 for permitting the obstruction evading movement by a drive rod 8 when the movement of the windshield wiper devices 3, 4 is interfered in a range of a wiper shaft 5 of the left and right wiper shafts 5, 6 on which the wiping arms 3a, 4a are fixed, and continuing the rotation of a crank 9 without interfered. AL-shaped first member 18 of the means 7 is connected through a joint with the other end of the drive rod 8 reciprocatable in the axial direction by the crank 9 rotatable by the operation of the drive mechanism 16. This first member 18 is rotatably mounted on the wiper shaft 5, and a connection plate 20 is pivotted 19 on the point of the same. A guide means 21 is mounted on a free end 20a of this connection plate 20, to be engaged with a guide groove formed on a second member 23 fixed on the wiper shaft 5. |
