Process and apparatus for producing mouldings from clay slip

For producing mouldings (6) from clay slip, prepared in liquid form, a pressing mould (2.1, 2.2) which is porous, water-permeable and in particular stable under high pressures is required. This pressing mould comprises two halves (2.1, 2.2), which are held together with the aid of a frame (1.1, 1.2) comprising two halves. Inside the housing (2) there is provided a durable, relatively thin filter layer (5), produced from open-burned ceramic. The interspace between filter layer (5) and housing (2) is filled with a porous, pressure-resistant backfill (4). The clay slip is introduced via a filling nozzle (7) with non-return valve (11). The required high pressing pressure is generated by means of a high-pressure pump via a connection piece (8). The water pressed out of the clay slip is drained out of the housing (2) via pipe pieces (9). Via the same pipe pieces (9), compressed air is blown into the housing (2) in order to facilitate the demoulding of the moulding (6). <IMAGE>
