<p>PURPOSE:To reduce the abrasion and damage of a magnetic tape by separating a tape running means from the magnetic tape by means of a tension loosening mechanism and reducing tape tension when a signal recording operation is temporarily stopped while maintaining a recording state. CONSTITUTION:A tension loosening mechanism 8 compresses a pinch roller 46 to a capstan 45 in a recording mode, when the mechanism 8 shifts from the recording mode to a soft pause mode, it slightly turns a cum plate 49 by the turns of a connecting plate 37 for a prescribed quantity, and separates the pinch roller 46 from the capstan 45. Consequently the loaded tape path of the magnetic tape is made slightly longer, and the tape tension operating for the magnetic tape is reduced. Thus the abrasion or damage of the magnetic tape in the pause mode can be reduced.</p> |
