PURPOSE: To prevent the motor from undergoing abnormal functional retrogradation due to splashes or high-temperature steam, and ease cleaning and maintenance of the agitator by providing a clamp means serving to removably fix the cross beam extending across the upper end open space of a vessel to a vessel rim and installing the motor at a cross beam terminal. CONSTITUTION: Clamp means 17 comprises a pair of clamp members 24 located respectively under the end parts 14, 16 of cross beam 13 and each of which has internal edge 26 of a profile matching the under part adjacent to welting 23 of the vessel. The cross beam 13 has a pair of straight passages 27 spaced respectively at the cross beam end parts 14, 16 while the clamp members 24 are locked each to the cross beam by one of a pair of bolts 28 which extends downward through one of the straight passages 27 and slit 29 of one clamp member, and to which a nut 31 is fitted underneath the clamp member. Electric motor 21 is fixed to the first end 14 of cross beam 13 through mounting bracket 44 and is thus isolated from splashing of a liquid which takes place at the upper part of vessel 12 and condensible vapor and intensive heat as well.
