This invention relates to diastereoisomer A of 2,6-dimethyl-4-(3-nitrophenyl)-1,4-dihydropyridine-3,5-dicarboxylic acid 3-(1-benzylpyrrolidin-3-yl)ester 5-methyl ester, dextro-rotatory optical isomer thereof, and the pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts thereof. The invention further relates to a process of producing these compounds and also to medicaments using these compounds as an effective component. The compounds of this invention have a vasodilating activity and a hypotensive activity.
