The projectile (18) has a housing (16) with an explosive charge (14) which is detonated in order to fire the projectile from a gun. The explosive charge (14) is held in place by an end cover (12) . This end cover is secured by a ring (10) with a flange (24) which projects radially inwards. This ring (10) is attached to the housing by means of adhesive placed between the abutting surfaces. The adhesive enables the ring to be detached from the housing (16) so that the projectile can be driven out of the gun barrel by the pressure generated by the explosive charge. Instead of using adhesive, lines of weakness may be formed in the ring so that it breaks and allows the projectile to be fired. USE - Projectiles for guns. |
