PURPOSE:To improve controllability by judging a skid state in a vehicle from each sensor output of lateral acceleration, steering angle and car speed, and when it comes off the setting range, judging it to be a turning limit and controlling a clutch. CONSTITUTION:A controller 44 controls a torque distribution via front and rear clutches 10, 18 on the basis of each rotational frequency of front wheels 14, 16 and rear wheels 22, 24 being detected by a sensor 46 when a 4WD mode is selected by a mode selector 64, by way of example. In this case, a turning limit detecting means judges a state as to a skid in an automobile in the basis of each signal out of a lateral acceleration sensor 50, a steering angle sensor 52, and a car speed sensor (the wheel speed sensor 46), and when the result comes off the setting range, it is regarded as a turning limit, and in order to interrupt driving force to be transmitted to driving wheels or reduce it, the front clutch 10 and/or the rear clutch 18 is controlled. Thus, controllability can be well improved. |
