PURPOSE:To enable the well-balanced coexistence of an electrolyte and the supply quantity thereof to a catalytic layer with reaction gas by intervening a binding layer with water repellent carbon black. CONSTITUTION:An anode 1 and a cathode 2 are made in such a way that a reaction layer 5 is integrally laminated on respective base materials 4 and the reaction layer 5 is so positioned as to oppose the side of a matrix layer 3. The layer 5 is so formed as to have porous structure via the binding of carbon black powder and water repellent carbon black using a water repellent agent as a binder. By intervening the binding layer with the water repellent carbon black as aforementioned, it is possible to improve the performance of gas permeability and to keep acceptably good balance between the supply quantities of gas and electrolyte necessary for power generation reaction while reducing the quantity of the water repellent agent as a binder, thereby displaying high durability. |
