TREATMENT OF ACTIVATED SLUDGE

This invention relates to an inhibitor of abnormal phenomena of activated sludge observed in the activated sludge process for treating an organic industrial waste water, such as bulking of activated sludge caused by molds or anomalies thereof caused by actinomycetes, said inhibitor comprising a water-soluble polymer prepared by the reaction of a specified amine with a specified dihalide. The invention also relates to a method for treating activated sludge whereby the anomalies and bulking of the sludge are inhibited by using said inhibitor.
