<p>This invention relates to a method for the formation of a thin MgF2 film characterized by applying solution containing a Mg salt and a BF3 complex salt onto a substrate and then heating to form a thin MgF2 film. The method of the invention can afford a transparent thin MgF2 film having high durability and low refractive index on a substrate such as a glass sheet and an optical component, and on the surface of a substrate such as CRT and a liquid crystal display panel, and is useful for forming a low-reflection film.</p> |
