<p>A seam forming apparatus (10) for forming a full felled seam at one lateral edge of each of two limp material segments establishes a specific geometrical relationship between the segments. The apparatus (10) includes a fold assembly (30) which extends along a reference axis (30A) from an input end (30a) to an output end (30b). The fold assembly (30) constrains portions of said first and second segments adjacent to the lateral edge to be substantially adjacent and substantially straight in the direction transverse to the reference axis at points near the input end (30a) of the fold assembly (10). Those portions are constrained to be substantially V-shaped in the direction transverse to the reference axis (30A) and oppositely directed and interleaved at points outside and near the output end (30b) of the fold assembly. Between the input and output ends, those portions are constrained to be substantially adjacent and substantially Z-shaped in the direction transverse to the reference axis (30A).</p> |
