NEW MATERIAL:Streptopyrones expressed by formula I (R<1> and R<2> are alkyl). EXAMPLE:A compound expressed by formula II. USE:Useful as a cell division inhibitor, having cell division inhibitory activity based on pronucleus fusion inhibition against sea urchin egg cell and also as a reagent for studying cell division mechanisms and expected to have uses as carcinostatic agents. PREPARATION:For example, Streptomyces albulus MCI 2425 strain is cultured to provide the streptopyrones expressed by formula I. Although the strain, belonging to the genus Streptomyces and used in this invention tends to change properties thereof, even a variant strain can be used unless properties of producing the streptopyrones are not lost. |
