The connecting device consists of a shank (1) and a shank bushing (7, 8; 25; 60) which can be pushed onto the shank in its longitudinal direction. The shank (1) has a cross-section which deviates from the circular with several radial projecting cross-sectional parts (2) which have external surfaces (4) consisting of sections of the surface of a regular cylinder and which are separated from each other by intermediate regions (3) of smaller cross-section. The shank (1) is provided with transverse grooves (5) in which the shank bushing (7, 8; 25; 60) catches in order to fix it in its longitudinal position on the shank (1). The shank bushing (7, 8; 25; 60) consists of a first bushing part (7, 25A, 61) and a second bushing part (8, 25B, 62) and the two bushing parts (7, 8; 25A, 25B; 61, 62) are captively interconnected and can be moved in opposite directions between a release position and a locking position. In the release position, the shank bushing (7, 8; 25; 60) can slide axially along the shank (1) and in the locking position at least one projection (12, 40, 68) on one bushing part (7, 25A, 25B, 61) interlocks with one of the transverse grooves (5) of the shank (1). Co-operating catch elements (13, 19; 41, 44; 71, 85) on the first and second bushing parts (7, 8; 25A, 25B; 61, 62) mutually interlock in at least one of the positions of the two bushing parts. At least one of the bushing parts (7, 8; 25A, 25B; 62) has a passage (29, 83) which matches the cross-section of the shank (1) to ensure non-rotational engagement with the shank (1). |
