An absorbent product has a central absorbent element. Flaps (22, 24) extend from each of the longitudinal edges of the product. Pressure sensitive adhesive (30; 32) is centrally located on the garment facing side of the pro- duct and on the garment facing side of the flaps. A single release strip (28) has a first side covering the centrally locate adhesive (30). The flaps (22, 24) are folded over the release strip (28) with the flap adhesive (32) contacting the second side of the release strip (28).
