The flat cable connector comprises cutting-type terminal contacts (14, 16) with two pointed arms (18) which have a slot between them. The arms are crimped into the insulation (30) of a flat cable (24) and are mechanically secured in the latter. In this way they contact with the metallic conductor (26, 28) and thus make electrical contact with it. The flat cable can thus be joined with other cables or a printed circuit. According to the invention, the mechanical securing of the arm which is crimped into the insulation can be increased. For this purpose a projection (12) is provided on the cutting-type terminal, and extending from this projection is a fan-shaped element (22). Whereas the arms are crimped into the insulator of the flat cable from below, the fan-shaped element is pressed on to the cable from above. In this way, it is clamped between the arms and the fan-shaped element. This results in a mechanical connection between the cutting-type terminal and the flat cable which does not come loose even in the event of vibrations. |
