The invention concerns a light, in particular one for motor vehicles, with a reflector (1) obtained by rotating about the optical axis (6) a parabola branch (7) turned through an angle gamma about the focus F. This reflector (1) has a compact design, yet can accommodate a high light flux. Light (8) reflected from the reflector (1) but not parallel to the optical axis (6) is redirected parallel to the optical axis (6) by a diffusing lens (4) mounted in front of the reflector (1).
