<p>PURPOSE:To make the discharge amount of filthy water adjustable as desired by adjusting the opening area of a passageway formed widening toward the end on the discharge side of a vertical shaft axial flow pump through the slidable movement of a slide gate. CONSTITUTION:A vertical shaft type axial flow pump 5 incorporated in an outer casing 3 is provided with a generally truncated cone-shaped discharge cone 7 forming a passageway widening toward the end on the discharge side of said pump. The casing 3 has at the end of the discharge side thereof an annular slide gate 11 which is so disposed as to move axially slidably to permit the adjustment of the opening area of the passageway widening toward the end. Moreover, the slide gate 11 is provided with a venturi 11a forming a constricted portion in the passageway around the outer periphery of the discharge cone 7. An air escaping hole 15 is formed at a location facing toward a throat portion of this venturi portion or a throat portion 11c of the discharge cone 7 in communication with a gas supply means. As a result, the discharge amount of filthy water containing air bubbles can be adjusted as desired.</p> |
