<p>This invention relates to a method and an apparatus for manufacturing carbon black, which are capable of arbitrarily controlling the particle diameter distribution and agglomerate diameter distribution of carbon black. The apparatus of the invention consists of a combustion chamber, a tubular constriction narrower than the combustion chamber so as to form a straightened hot air flow therein, an inversely tapered section contiguous to the constriction, and a carbon black reaction chamber contiguous to the tapered section. A straightened hot air flow is formed in at least the tubular constriction and the tapered section. Hydrocarbon material is sprayed separately or simultaneously from at least two raw material spray ports provided in the tapered section so that these ports are spaced in the axial direction thereof, or simultaneously from at least two of a number of raw material spray ports provided in that part of the apparatus which extends from the constriction to the reaction chamber via the tapered section, in such a manner that the raw material spray ports are spaced in the axial direction thereof. The apparatus for manufacturing carbon black according to the present invention includes a structure for forming a straightened hot air flow, and a plurality of raw material spray ports provided in this structure so as to be spaced in the axial direction thereof.</p> |
