Staircase with a plurality of steps, in which each step is rigidly connected, at at least one lateral end, with the following step by means of two vertical supports. The lowest step and the highest step (22, 12) rest on a floor (26, 24), a beam or the equivalent. A quadrangular support consisting of two horizontal supports and two vertical supports (40, 42; 44, 46) which together form a cheek is arranged on at least one lateral end of each step (12 to 22). Each step rests on the associated lower horizontal support and each horizontal support (40, 42) is prolonged outward by a vertical support (44, 46). This prolongation (32) of the upper horizontal support (40) forms the lower horizontal support of the next highest step (12), while the prolongation (48) of the lower horizontal support (42) constitutes the upper horizontal support of the next lowest step (16).
