PURPOSE:To perform zero adjustment for two valves, by installing a pair of rocker arms to be connected oil disconnected to or from a pair of suction or exhaust valves, driving them with a single cam, while installing a hydraulic lifter in each tip end of both these rocker arms. CONSTITUTION:A pair of suction valves or exhaust valves V1 and V2 are installed in one cylinder, and they are driven by a single cam C via a pair of rocker arms. These two rocker arms are connected or disconnected by a plunger 64 of a valve stop mechanism 5, and in time of disconnection, one side valve V1 alone is driven. Hydraulic fluid is fed to each tip end of both these rocker arms through a throttle 32, and there is provided with a hydraulic lifter T2 having a reservoir 16 to be interconnected to the outside through a throttle 33. Zero such adjustment takes place with both valves V1 and V2, whereby smooth connecting operation for the valve stop mechanism 5 is carried out. With this constitution, a sudden variation in hydraulic pressure inside the reservoir 16 is in no case entailed there and, what is more, unusual actions are thus prevented from occurring. |
