The object of the invention is to create a device which permits the preparation of optical waveguide ends with connectors in a reproducible manner. Each of the workstations (1, 2, 3) for removing the optical waveguide coating (16), for cutting the optical waveguide ends to length and for fixing these ends in a connector (21) has a rail (5, 22, 23, 24) for guiding a carriage (4, 11) to which the optical waveguide ends to be spliced are fastened and which, together with the optical waveguide ends, runs through the individual workstations (1, 2, 3). Each of the workstations (1, 2, 3) has carriage stops (7, 8, 9, 10). The carriages (4, 11) are moved in each workstation to a stop and the optical waveguide ends are precisely positioned in this way.
