PURPOSE:A porous polycarbonate membrane through which the plasma can be rapidly separated from blood without causing blood coagulation, prepared by coating a starting porous polycarbonate membrane with an acrylate polymer containing, if necessary, a prostaglandin. CONSTITUTION:A porous polycarbonate membrane, pore diameter 0.1-2mum, obtained by bombarding a thin polycarbonate membrane with charged particles in a nuclear reactor and alkali-etching the membrane is set on a funnel, a filter holder or the like. Along the surface of the membrane is run down a solution prepared by dissolving 0.01-2pts. acrylate polymer (e.g., polymethyl methacrylate) and, if necessary, 0.005-1pt. prostaglandin (e.g., prostaglandin E1) in 100pts. solvent (e.g., methanol). The remaining solution attached to the membrane is filtered by suction. The membrane is dried, whereby the surface of the porous polycarbonate membrane is coated with the acrylate membrane. |
