In known strip-like marking devices, one or two free ends must be folded over to the back so that a tab-like structure is produced which has to be applied to the printing unit by hand and is held there by clamping on a sheet or a bundle of sheets of the printing unit. The novel marking device is to be usable in a more cost-effective manner and to require no assembly costs if possible. A film section of electrostatically chargeable material is used, and the printing unit has a high electrical insulation resistance. The film section can also be designed as a film electret and can likewise be used in conjunction with a printing unit of a high electrical insulation resistance. In conjunction with a printing unit, the marking device can be manufactured in a simpler and more cost-effective manner because no assembly costs occur at all. <IMAGE>
