PURPOSE:To provide sure switching of engagement/disengagement for a coupling mechanism, which is installed between a pair of locker arms and includes a piston to engage and disengage these two arms, by furnishing a timing plate to restrict the motion of piston, and by interlocking this to a cam shaft. CONSTITUTION:A coupling mechanism 8 to change over from the condition where a pair of suction valves are in operation simultaneously to the condition where either of these valves is put in pause is installed at locker arms 6, 7 interlocked with a valve opening/closing cam on cam shaft 3, which is to open and close said pair of suction valves. This coupling mechanism 8 is composed of a piston 11 movable between the both arms engagement position and disengagement position and a stopper 12 to restrict its motion. The piston 11 consists of a coupling member 18 and a pushing member 19, and a ring groove 26 for detention is formed between these two members 18, 19 to provide possibility of detaining a timing plate 14. Rotation of this timing plate 14 is controlled by a control arm 44 which is interlocked with a timing cam 45 fixed on the above- mentioned cam shaft 3. |
