PURPOSE:To provide for wide range stepless speed change by providing a plurality of conical rollers and a speed change ring which coincidently makes frictional engagement with the conical faces of these rollers and determining the position of the speed change ring on the basis of the balance between a balance spring and a swing arm. CONSTITUTION:Each of a plurality of conical rollers 3 has the conical face 3a varying the effective radius and serving as the friction transmitting face, the friction transmitting face 3b having the arc-like section and the flat friction transmitting face 3c, two of the latters making the frictional engagement with friction transmitting wheels 5 and 6, and is disposed between the friction transmitting wheels 5 and 6 on input and output shafts 1 and 2. A speed change ring 4 which can be moved in the axial direction is made in contact with the external peripheries of the rollers 3 and determined for its axial position by an action restricting device 10. The device 10 has a balance spring 12 of which one end is secured to a casing 11 via an adjusting screw 17 and a swing arm 15 of which one end is secured to the casing 11 via a universal joint 13. The position of the ring 4 is determined on the basis of the balance between both of them 12 and 15. |
