A description is given of a reversible storage device for agents, which consists of a storage core (1), an intermediate storage device (2), a catalyst (3) and a protective sheath (4). Upon opening of the protective sheath, the stored agent is heated in the catalyst layer owing to the entry of oxygen which then takes place. The storage device manages without a source of external heat, because the bond energy in the intermediate storage device is much lower than that of the main storage device, so that the intermediate storage device serves as a starter for the reaction. …<??>Applications of the storage device according to the invention are envisaged, in particular, for heating foodstuffs, including beverages, for heat treatment of patients in a state of shock, and as rapidly responding hydrogen storage devices for dispensing hydrogen without the supply of extraneous energy. …<IMAGE>… |
