PURPOSE: A method for storing preference channels is provided to give a more convenient channel selection function to users by automatically storing preference channels and displaying the stored preference channels in a first-in first-out(FIFO) manner. CONSTITUTION: A method for storing preference channels comprises the steps of: initializing a watching time counter if an input of a channel selection part is completed and selecting a corresponding channel after setting a watching time check flag; judging a state of the watching time check flag if arbitrary time comes after the channel selection and increasing the watching time counter in case that the setting has been made; and initializing the watching time counter after storing the corresponding channel as a preference channel in case that the watching time is more than a predetermined time and clearing the watching time check flag.
