PURPOSE:To enable accurate correction of the current position of a moving object even when the moving object runs off a road on a map by searching a road within a range in the perimeter of the current position on a road map to extract a data thereof. CONSTITUTION:A map accessed properly is projected on a screen of a display device 7 while the current position on X-Y coordinates is determined every second by a computation with a signal processor 3 according to a running of a moving object. The results of the computation are sent to the device 7 sequentially while being fed to a moving locus memory 4 to be stored and held. The contents of the memory are always read to be sent to the device 7 continuously. Here, a deviation between a data value of a position involved in a road of the map in which digital information is stored and a data value of a running locus of the moving object is judged with a device 3 under a fixed reference. When the deviation grows larger than a fixed reference, the current position of the moving body displayed on the map and a running locus thus given are corrected automatically to be always on the map according to a data value of the road. |
