The protection of the surfaces of uncured composite sheets is provided by applying a protecting backing having a metal component to the composite sheet, which is removed prior to layup and curing of a composite laminate. Presence of the protective backing in a layup of composite sheets or a laminate made from the layup composite sheets may be detected by passing them through a sensing presence of an eddy current. |
