NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formulaI(R is pyrrolidino or N-lower alkylcyclohexylamino). EXAMPLE:3-Pyrrolidino-7-triphenylmethylaminofluoran of formula II. USE:A color parent chemical for color developing recording materials, e.g. pressure-sensitive copying paper or heat-sensitive recording paper. PROCESS:An O-benzoylbenzoic acid derivative of formula III is reacted with p- aminophenol (or a lower alkyl ether thereof) to give a fluoran compound of formula IV, which is then reacted with a halotriphenylmethane of formula V (Hal is halogen) in the presence of a deacidifying agent in an inert organic solvent.
