PURPOSE:To enable measurement of BOD handily and accurately by using a drain at a point to be measured subjected to a sterilization treatment as reference liquid. CONSTITUTION:A value of BOD of a drain after a floating solid is filtered with a size not so large as to cause a clogging in a measuring device is almost the same as a BOD of the drain as intact. A drain at a point intended to measure BOD is sampled beforehand at a plant, sewage treating equipment or the like and undergoes a sterilization treatment shows a BOD curve the same as that of the drain to be measured. Therefore, the use of this drain as reference liquid allows quick and accurate measurement of BOD. The drain to be measured thus subjected to the sterilization treatment can be preserved for a long time (more than one month) at a room temperature when it is kept from being mixed with microorganism. |
