A vehicle braking system has a brake actuator (4) mounted adjacent a vehicle wheel to be braked and an electrically operated power device (10) carried, at a location remote from the wheel, by a suspension member (1) associated with that wheel. Drive transmission means (11) interconnects the power device (10) and brake actuator (4). The power device (10) is usually mounted adjacent a location at which the member (1) is connected to the suspended vehicle body (5).
