PURPOSE: To obtain a pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating lowering of serum cholesterol and/or arteriosclerosis by including HMG CoA reductase suppressor and probucol or niacin. CONSTITUTION: This serum cholesterol lowering agent comprises 3-hydroxy-3- methylglutaryl coenzyme A (HMG CoA) reductase suppressor (e.g. pyrazole analogue of mevalonolactone) and probucol or niacin in (0.001:1) to (1000:1) weight ratio. As necessary, a carrier substance, a vehicle, a lubricant, a buffer, an antimicrobial agent, an extender, an antioxidant, etc., is properly formulated therein and the formulation is prepared according to an ordinary method to provide the objective material. Though the agent is preferably prepared in oral dosage form of tablet, capsule, etc., the agent can be prepared also in parenteral dosage form such as liquid pharmaceutical. |
