PURPOSE:To obtain a serial type printer capable of performing printing operation by a set of hammer and having a smaller thickness by a method in which the hammer can be driven only when types to be printed are present in the type wheel when the supporter leg of the type wheel reaches the projection of the hammer. CONSTITUTION:When a shaft 7 turns in the direction of arrow A, a type wheel 1 is turned in the arrow direction, and when desired types reach a set position, a clutch 34 is coupled and a hammer 30 is raised by a cam 33. Then, the supporter leg 4a of the type wheel 1 is struck by the projection 30a for printing. The cam 33 turns one round, the clutch 34 is disconnected, a clutch 27 is connected, a drum 26 is turned, and a carriage 13 is moved by half pitch of the comb teeth in the direction of arrow E by a wire 24. The supporter leg 4a of the type wheel 1 is faced a concaved part 30b, and the supporter leg 5a of the type wheel 2 is faced the projection 30a. When no desired types are present in the type wheel 2, printing operation is stopped, and only when the type wheel 1 reaches the digit, printing is made. |
