<p>The invention relates to a method and device for cleaning the outer surfaces of cylindrical objects conveyed in a continuous series, said objects being arranged so that their axis is vertical. According to the invention the following steps are carried out: . a single object is kept still while an atomised detergent is delivered to it by operating a rotary atomising means at a station (I); . the object is transferred through the open air to a rinsing station (III), the length of time taken for this transfer corresponding to the time required for the chemical action of the atomised detergent; . the single object is again kept still at the rinsing station (III) and rinsed by spraying with water at high pressure, by operating a rotary spray means. Two additional stations will advantageously be provided, for brushing (II) between the atomising station (I) and the rinsing station (III), and a drying station (IV) downstream of the rinsing station (III).
