CHANGEOVER TYPE DETECTION HEAD

PURPOSE: To enable the horizontally-mounted use of a detecting head without loss of reproducibility of a supporting device by providing a porcelain supporting device to compensate for the elements acting at a right angle in the direction of preload of gravity. CONSTITUTION: The casing 1 of a detecting head supports a supporting device comprising three spherical bodies 12 inside. A detection pin supporting body 11 or a holding plate 8 in the supporting device is preloaded by a coil spring 4. Gravity Fg acting upon the center S of gravity of the supporting body 11 generates a force element F1 in the plane of the supporting device and moment. This moment exerts more significant loads to the two supporting points of the supporting device than to the supporting section below. A magnet 5 is inserted into the lower end of the holding plate 8 and the corresponding magnet 6 is set facing the other in the casing 1 in order to compensate for this force element. The distance between these two magnets 5 and 6 is determined so that the magnets facing each other with magnetic poles of the same polarity generate a repulsive force equal to the force element F1 of a gravity vector Fg working in the plane of the supporting device and in the opposite direction.
