PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain a certain collation precision even in the case of collating image data which is not necessarily satisfactory as a collation object. SOLUTION: A definition part 3 defines a first area and a second area having a prescribed positional relation to this first area as first image data 1a. A first determination part 4 determines an area, which has a maximum collation with the first area, as second image data 1b. A redefinition part 5 redefines the second area on a first image on the basis of the positional relation on a second image of the first maximum collation area, and a second determination part 6 determines an area which has the maximum collation with the second area redefined on the second image. A discrimination part 7 discriminates the degree of similarity between both images on the basis of the difference between the mutual positional relation between the first area and the second redefined area and that between the first and second maximum collation areas or the difference between the positional relation between second areas and that between second maximum collation areas. |
