PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera with good portability and with good handleability even when a photographing lens is temporarily collapsed. SOLUTION: The operating mode of this camera is changed from an initial condition to a condition different from the initial condition by a mode setting button 18. A zoom lens barrel 11 can be shifted between a photographable position and a housing position and operation for moving the lens barrel 11 is performed by a sliding barrier 27. The lens barrel 11 is driven to the photographing position or the housing position by a zoom lens driving mechanism 12 in accordance with the operation of the barrier 27. When the mechanism 12 is driven, the operating mode set by the button 18 is kept or initialized in accordance with the operating condition of the barrier 27. |
