PURPOSE: To obtain the subject felt improved in retention and draining properties without causing the deterioration of rigidity with a plasticizer and an increase in elongation by forming a sheet from a mixture containing two kinds of latex polymers mixed in a slurry comprising fibers, a filler and a special activator. CONSTITUTION: A slurry is prepared from fibers, a filler and polydimethyldiallylammonium chloride represented by the formula (n is 600-3,500) in an amount sufficient to impart improved rigidity and elongation for the use of a plasticizer and a first latex polymer such as an acrylate copolymer or a copolymer of a monovinylidene monomer and an acyclic conjugated diene and a second latex polymer containingα,β-ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid monomers and nonionic vinyl monomers are mixed in the resultant slurry to prepare an aqueous dispersion. The prepared aqueous dispersion is then formed into a sheet to form a web, which is subsequently dried to thereby produce a felt composite for vinyl floor finishing materials.
