REFRACTORY MATERIAL AND CASTABLE REFRACTORY FOR MOLTEN METAL CONTAINER

A refractory composition specifically adpated to construct a refractory wall, such as a refractory lining of a molten metal container. The composition of a refractory material contains zircon and silica as principle component of base material, a reinforcement aggregate of similar material to the base material and chemical binder of silicate. Preferably, the composition is composed of 100 parts by weight of base material, 5 to 60 parts by weight of aggregate and the binder which contains 0.05 to 5.0 parts by weight of silicon deoxide. In addition, the aggregate may have a grain size greater than or equal to 10 mm in diameter.
