<p>PURPOSE:To stably measure a temperature with high accuracy by providing a silica-based glass core and a plastic clad. CONSTITUTION:The silica-based glass core 1 and the plastic clad 2 are provided. Liquid crystal in which scattered light changes in accordance with a used temperature area is contained in the clad 2. When the environmental temperature changes, the scattering of the light changes in the clad layer 2. Furthermore, a part of light energy which propagates in the core 1 of an optical fiber exudes to the clad layer 2 and is attenuated by receiving the effect of the scattering and absorption of the clad layer 2. Therefore, when the scattering of light changes in the clad layer 2, the transmission loss of the optical fiber changes. Then, the environmental temperature of the optical fiber is known by measuring the change of the transmission loss.</p> |
