NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula (R is acetyl or H). The compound of formula wherein R is acetyl has the following physical and chemical properties. Appearance, yellow powder; melting point, 180-184 deg.C (decomposition); molecular formula. C55H80O25; elemental analysis (%), C 57.68, H 7.12, O 35.20; FAB mass spectrum (m/z), 1163 (M+Na)<+>; solubility, soluble in methanol and ethanol, slightly soluble in acetone, ethyl acetate and chloroform and insoluble in hexane and water; etc. USE:An antitumor agent. PREPARATION:A microbial strain belonging to genus Streptomyces and capable of producing 02-3 (e.g. FERM BP-2276) is cultured in a medium under aerobic condition preferably at 25-30 deg.C for 3 days.
