PURPOSE:To obtain a tough formed item by a method wherein a process, in which both reinforcing fibers and fibres made of thermoplastic resin are simultaneously wound around a mandrel, and a process, in which thermal fusion of the fibers made of thermoplastic resin is performed just before or after the winding of the fibers around the mandrel, are included in the forming of the formed item. CONSTITUTION:Reinforcing fibers 11 and one or a plurality of thermoplastic resin fibers 12 are collected with rollers 14 and 15 and, after that, simultaneously wound around a mandrel 17 through a delivery eye 16, which orientates the fibers 11 and 12 to the mandrel 17 through its horizontally reciprocating motion. When the fibers 11 and 12 wound around the mandrel 17 form a layer having the predetermined thickness, the layer is heated in a rotary heating over or the like so as to melt the fibers 12. After that, when the layer is brought back to normal temperature, the melt of the fibers 12 solidified. Thus, an FRP formed item having the fibers 11 as reinforcing material and the resin, which is the melt of the fibers 12, as matrix is obtained. |
