PURPOSE:To provide the title medium of a phase-changing type which is capable of recording data at short pulse width and highly sensitive to a regenerated signal by adding Te to the first and second layers of the recording layer and forming a recording area including an intermetallic compound due to fusion caused by projection of a light beam. CONSTITUTION:A recording layer 2 for recording information consisting of the first layer 3 and the second layer 4 is formed on a substrate 1 of transparent and less temporally changing material. The first layer 3 and the second layer 4 are made of alloy or intermetallic compound and contain Te equally. Then a light beam is projected to the recording layer 2 to allow a recording area 5 including the intermetallic compound to be formed by fusion of the first layer 3 and the second layer 4. As the recording area 5 contains the intermetallic compound as described above, it is crystallized at high speed and subsequently, data can be recorded oven by a short laser pulse. |
